Abudwak District are Implementing Workshop by Habeb Foundation


Habeb Mental Health Foundation implemented 2 months training of Mental health GAP intervention program for mental, neurological and substance use disorders for 15  non-specialized health workers in Abudwak District Galgadud Region.


This program began October 27, 2014 after first consultation meeting held Siyad Hotel in Mogadishu, that meeting attended the authority from Habeb Mental Health Foundation and authority from Shifo Mental Hospital committee in Abudwak District.
 This Meeting will be agree the Dr. Habeeb and his mental health staff to open Shifo Mental Hospital in Abudwak District and provide 2 months of mental health training for 15  non-specialized health workers, as voluntarily.




 Al Hamdulilah we succeeded to implemented the training on May 21, 2015. the Aim of training is:-

1. In order to prepare the Nurses and Social Workers to take up these activities in respect of District
Mental Health Programme in Abudwaq.
2. It is necessary to give at least 2 months in-service training programme, which could focus on the following  components:
A. the trainees to able Diagnoses and treated Mental Disorders through Mental Health GAP intervention guide.
B. To educate the public about the Mental illness through various resources available like media.
2. To create awareness in the community about the Mental Health programme through Primary Health care Centre.

 we are very happy to take the role of my government and the role of international community in mental health care in Somalia.

I am very happy to establish Habeb Mental Health and Community Health  Foundation.
I believe the most important duty and privilege is mental health services, prevention of Rabies, and treatment of AWD cholera.

I would like to thanks to Allah (My GOD) than individuals and organizations, particularly Somali Diaspora who supported several times financial fun raising our Foundation to carry out great deal of activities around in many fields including mental health, prevention of Rabies, and treatment of AWD cholera

Also We are acknowledgments The World Health Organizations and World Food Program  supporting Medications and feeding of Patients.
Similarly I never forgettable our Health Workers Volunteers Work different circumstances without incentives.

Introduction

Previously the Foundation working the name of Habeb Hospital, the Habeb Hospital creating 1991 in Afgioe District Lower Shabelle Region at that time was small surgeon Hospital
At that time is the only emergency war wounded available in lower shabelle region.
In 1999 Dr. Habeb opened Habeb Hospital with the first Rehydration Treatment Center in Huriwaa District in Mogadishu Somalia, the community accessibility of Habeb Rehydration treatment center in Habeb Hospital overcrowded and succeeded to supported more than 25,000 of Diarrhea cases about 89% for under five children the death rate 0.085%

The implementation prevention and controlling rabies Diseases was March, 2001 and succeeded to protect the death and spread seriously disease resulting only a Death.

The implementation Habeb Public Mental Health Hospital 24 November 2005 and succeed to treat more than 20,000 between 2005- 2015


Renewed the name of Habeb Hospitals in to Habeb Mental Health and Community Health  Foundation 1st January 2011  by a group of Somali intellectuals,  professionals of the country, after recognized the important task of different health fields caring for Somali, the foundation work all regions of S/C Somalia. 



1.1: Legality

Habeb Mental Health and Community Health Foundation is local non-governmental charity organization that fully complies with the humanitarian code of conduct and registered under the NGOs regulations of Somalia’s Law and Acts. It has registered head office based in Mogadishu and operational field offices in Waberi District, Huriwaa District, Madina District and Marka district Lower Shabelle Region, also chained  and supporting institutions Psychiatric professionals working in Jowhar Lower Shebelle region and Bay region also habeb institution established data collection in mental health in S/C Somalia It has not coordination person in Nairobi seeking Fundraising

Somalia is located in east Africa, bordering the golf of Aden and Indian Ocean, east of Ethiopia, its ethnic groups is African Bantu and some Arab; it has land boundaries with Kenya 682 km, Djibouti 58 km, and Ethiopia 1.600 km. coastline length 3,025 km and territorial sea claims 200 nm, Climate conditions are principally desert from December to February – northeast monsoon, moderate temperatures in north and very hot in south; from May to October southwest monsoon, torrid in the north and hot in the south, irregular rainfall, hot and humid periods (tangambili) between monsoons Terrain mostly flat to undulating plateau rising to hills in north, country’s economic relay on agriculture which is the most important sector, livestock’s about 65%, Somalia has longest coastal areas in Africa, it extend 3025 km of nautical miles the width reaches minimum about (50-61) km in northern coastline most parts of the country has rich fish resources of variety of species.                       


Culturally the Somali peoples are nomads and semi nomads Societies and rigid in clan based traditional behaviors and faction stronghold; the period between 1960-1968 two Successive democratically elected governments ruled the country through elections and related procedures.

On October 1969 military led bloodless insurgency coup that took over the power, and the military ruled the country for 21 years.
On 1991 an ousted popular uprising armed civilian militant war broke out, soon after the fall of the government with so many ambitious warlords struggling for power, The country become totally disintegrated and got divided into clan zones controlled by militia leaders supported by their individual clans.
However, during 1993 US/UNISOM interventions make the atmosphere to be stabilizing even though persistent inter-clan armed conflicts, political dispute being existed mainly in Mogadishu which tremor humanitarian service operations in Mogadishu and surrounding areas.

Today there is TFG government being established in Nairobi/Kenya, after 3 years of debates and political negotiations; all parts of the Somali politicians and armed factions leaders include members of civil society groups, community elders etc elected a president and established on clan based parliamentary members and ministers established Transitional Federal Government TFG, this current situation the security supported by AMISON.  


2. Visions of Mental Health Program, Protecting Rabies Program, CTC and Child Protection

1.       Availability Anti Rabies Vaccine every were freely to prevention seriously and deaths of Rabies   Disease who is not curatively.
2.      All different community are well aware the knowledge of rabies disease and is not treatable and resulting of death
3.      All different community are accesses immediately central sites available free  Anti Rabies Vaccine the first day of contact bits of suspects animal no postponement than 3 Days
